PARTICK THISTLE signing Mathias Pogba would love to start stepping out of his brother's shadow by masterminding a victory over Celtic this Sunday.

Pogba's younger sibling Paul is expected to complete a summer transfer from Italian club Juventus with Barcelona and Manchester City at the forefront of the race for his signature.

Barcelona had an 80million euro offer turned down last month and his future is likely to remain one of the major stories of the summer.

Mathias, meanwhile, has signed a one-year deal at Firhill after being released by Crawley Town. He has spent his time speaking more about his brother than himself, but the 24-year-old forward knows that will change should he score the winning goal in the weekend's lunchtime visit of the Ladbrokes Premiership champions.

"I pray to God all that could happen," he told BBC Scotland. "It would be a very good debut for me and a very big game for the team.

"Definitely, as a footballer, you would like to be known as you, not as the brother of Paul.

"Everybody has been talking about my brother, but now it would be nice to say: 'OK, Mathias Pogba is here'."
