Martin Canning says that his Hamilton players are out to bury their Inverness hoodoo on Saturday as they visit the Highlands.

The crushing win over Dundee United means that Caley Thistle are now the only team Accies have yet to defeat since returning to the Premiership.

“They were probably one of the better teams we played against last season,” he said.

“I thought they were really good in all the games we played, so for us it’s a challenge to go up there and we know it will be a difficult game.

“We’ll work hard this week and set up to go there and win.

"It is obviously one to put in the minds of the players and hopefully we can go up and take three points.

"In the first game of last season they beat us 2-0 at home and they were comfortable to be honest.

"In the second game up in Inverness they beat us 4-2 after we went a goal up and the last game here was 2-0 as well so they were all pretty convincing wins for Inverness.

"They were probably the best team we played against last season.

“They were the team that pretty much dominated us in all three games.

"So it is going to be a difficult game up there but it’s one we will look to take three points from.

"We will do what we always do, prepare properly and go and try to win the match."

Canning admitted that his players have been flying in training since the 4-0 win on Saturday, their first victory of the season.

“It’s been a good week,” he said.

“ The only thing we need to make sure that we do is not get carried away.

“I’ve said it plenty of times before that we don’t get too low when we lose and we don’t get too high when we’re winning.

“It’s one result at the end of the day.

“As much as it was a good performance and a good result, it’s a platform to build on.

“We’ve got to look at it as something now that we take forward, it’s a benchmark that has been set.

“We won’t get too high about it. There will be no over-excitement about it.

“Saturday now becomes a lot more important and last Saturday is now done.

“But you saw that we’ve got the quality to win matches.

“The biggest thing we can hopefully take from it is that the players believe, as I’ve always believed, that they’re a good group and capable of big things provided we all work hard.”

Canning is still on his way back from a calf injury, but he revealed that midfielder Danny Redmond is on track after recovering from a knee injury sustained near the end of last season.

He said: "Danny came through 45 minutes with the under-20s last night. He has trained the last two weeks and that was his first game so he is not far away."

Midfielder Darren Lyon has recovered from a knee injury but might have mumps and has been told to stay away from the club in the meantime.
