TOMAS CERNY wants Partick Thistle to do themselves justice at last and finally get their first win of the season.

The Jags have yet to fully fire this term in the Ladbrokes Premiership following three draws and two defeats so far.

The next opportunity for them to get up and running comes today when high flying Aberdeen come to Firhill.

And despite the Dons currently flying high with four wins from four, Cerny is optimistic that a positive result can be achieved.

He said: “It depends how you look at it. We want our first win and there is pressure on that and trying to do it against Aberdeen will be that bit more difficult.

“For me the most disappointing result for me was Kilmarnock at home because I thought we controlled the game and should have seen the game out. That would have taken the pressure off trying to win tomorrow.

“Ten men against Hamilton was difficult, a point in Inverness is good, and then Hearts away you don’t expect points probably.

“There will be games where we will have the chance to get these points back and hopefully that happens against Aberdeen.”

It is four-and-a-half years since the Czech shot-stopper last came up against Aberdeen during his time at Hamilton Accies.

Cerny can still recall how the Dons were tough opposition back then, but he thinks that over the years they have become even stronger.

He said: “The last time I would have played them was at Hamilton and I think we drew 1-1.

“I saved a penalty in that game from Chris Maguire I think but that was the season we ended up getting relegated.

“I feel Aberdeen have progressed a lot and have a very strong squad. They always had good player but now they are working better as a team and are more stable. I remember playing them before and they’d play really well then next thing we’d go up there and get a couple of wins.

“Now I feel Aberdeen are more consistent and probably better as a team.”
