SAIDY JANKO has welcomed new defender Tyler Blackett to Celtic Park and has revealed how he helped sell the club to his former Manchester United colleague.

Blackett has moved to Celtic on a season long-loan deal with a view to a permanent move, should both parties be agreeable to it next term.

And Janko believes that Blackett will be a good fit for Ronny Deila’s side.

“I think he’s just a great addition to the team because he brings pace and he brings power, and that’s what we need,” said Janko. “Last week he texted me and asked me about the club, about the situation, how it is and everything. I told him good things.

“We played a lot with each other. But he played most of the time on the left hand side. He can play centre-back or left-back so he will be great for the club.

“He was enthusiastic straight away I didn’t have to convince him or anything. He just said ‘I might come and hopefully the deal will go smoothly’ and now he is here so I’m glad.

“He can play on the left-hand side or in the centre. I’m sure he will do well.”

Meanwhile, Janko is also settling well into Celtic Park.

The defender has featured over the last three games because of the injury to Mikael Lustig and is keen to make an impression.

“The manager gives me his trust,” he said. “The team dynamic is good as well. I’m enjoying it at the moment.”

And Janko is also looking forward to coming up against a few familiar faces when the group stages of the Europa League get underway.

“Fenerbahce have Robin van Persie and Nani who are obviously ex-team-mates - I’m looking forward to that. I trained with them a couple of times. They are good players. It’s some experience to train with someone like Van Persie. Superstars. But we have them here as well!

“I’m sure the Celtic supporters will give us all they have so I’m happy with that.”
