CELTIC are facing a 24-hour sweat to find out if they can bank a £2m transfer bounty from old Bhoy Victor Wanyama.

The Hoops have a 10 per cent sell-on clause over their former midfielder who quit Parkhead for Southampton in a £12.5m deal two years ago.

The Kenyan is at the centre of a bitter transfer stand-off as Spurs wait in the wings with a £20m bid to lure him to White Hart Lane.

That would see Celtic collect at least £2m – if the deal goes through before the English transfer window shuts tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, as Wanyama’s Southampton future is shrouded in mystery, Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk is poised to seal his switch to St Mary’s today.

Reports last night claimed the Dutchman – valued by Celtic at £11m – was already in Southampton for talks with manager Ronald Koeman.

And it’s believed a fee has been agreed between the two clubs. And that could mean around a total of £13.5m flowing into Celtic’s coffers as the clock ticks down on the summer transfer window.

Wanyama was left out of the Southampton squad that beat Norwich 3-0 yesterday afternoon – the second time in a week boss Ronald Koeman overlooked him.

He was also left out of the side that lost last Thursday night to FC Midtylland – with the Premiership boss claiming that the player was not “mentally and physically good enough to play”.

It is believed that Wanyama had intimidated to Southampton that he wishes to be allowed to make the move to White Hart Lane.

Southampton are adamant that he will not be allowed to go – Koeman cited the example of Morgan Schneiderlin after the St Mary’s club stood in the way of his transfer last summer before he earned a move to Old Trafford this year.

As the Van Dijk saga nears its end, Celtic are also keen to offload further players from the squad whom they have deemed surplus to requirements.

Derk Boerrigter has two years still to go on his Celtic contract but has been a forgotten man at Lennoxtown.

Signed by Neil Lennon two years ago, the former Ajax winger has made just 23 appearances for the Parkhead side after spending the bulk of his time at the club in the treatment room.

Anthony Stokes too could be set to move after falling out of favour with Deila.

It is believed that John Hughes’ Inverness side have made an enquiry regarding a loan move for the Irish internationalist.

Stokes, who did not make the final cut for Martin O’Neill’s side this weekend, has fallen out of favour under Ronny Deila this summer.

Swansea forward Michu has also attracted the interest of Celtic in this transfer window.

The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Napoli but has struggled hugely with injury issues over the last two seasons.

Croatia Zagreb defender Jose Simunovic could be set for a £4.5m move to the Parkhead side.

But the deal hinges on the sell-on clause which Zagreb want inserted into the deal. They originally wanted it to be as high as 40% but Celtic have negotiated to 25% for the 21-year-old.

Countryman Andrej Kramaric could, however, make the switch to Parkhead from Leicester in a loan move.
