GLASGOW are out of the KO Cup after a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Newcastle last night.

The Tigers went down 98-81 on aggregate after a 56-33 defeat at Brough Park.

It followed a 48-42 win at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium in the first leg earlier today.

Stewart Dickson's side were always up against it as Newcastle took five heat advantages in the first six meetings - with just one Tiger, Aaron Summers, winning a race.

In fact, it was the Australian who kept this from being an even bigger defeat as he won his first four rides, only losing to an opponent in heat 14 when he clattered the fence and finished second.

Summers' total over the two legs was 30.

Nick Morris was Glasgow's only other heat winner when he headed home the final race in a 5-1 with Richard Lawson - the Tigers' only heat advantage in the second leg.

Victor Palovaara, who missed out at reserve for Glasgow after suffering an ankle injury last night, was again a massive miss as guest Liam Carr and fellow reserve Hynek Stichauer scored just three - compared to the Diamonds' reserve duo of Simon Nielsen and Terno Aarnio who bagged 16 between them.

The defeat ends Glasgow's hopes of bagging a treble - but there is still plenty to race for with the Premier League play-offs coming up, as well as a League Cup final.

The side travel to Workington next Saturday in a crucial league encounter, but there is no action in Glasgow next Sunday as the Premier League Riders' Championship takes place in Sheffield - with Morris and Lawson representing the Tigers in the individual meeting.
