Morton manager Jim Duffy has revealed that he is still hopeful of adding to his squad, with any new additions likely to be from the loan market.

The transfer window closes on Tuesday, but that shouldn’t be a problem for Duffy unless the loan is coming from England.

He has of course, already utilised that market to bring in striker Denny Johnstone on-loan from Birmingham City.

Duffy’s side deservedly picked up their first win the season with a 1-0 away victory at Alloa, Thomas O’Ware getting the goal in a match that Ton dominated.

“Will anything happen before the window shuts? I don’t know,” Duffy said.

“At our level it’s not really that relevant as it’s usually loan players or players who’re out of contract you’re going for.

“We were never going to go and buy a player, so if he’s out of contract it doesn’t affect it and if he’s a loan it doesn’t affect it.

“The only thing I’ll need to double check is if we wanted a loan from down south. I think that might be different.

“We have made enquiries and asked the question. Sometimes you almost know the answer before you pick up the phone, but now and again you get a wee surprise.

“So you have to ask the question and see whether the player is available and whether the other variables fit in: if the player wants to come, if the budget is right, if the timing is right.

“And if it’s from down south, there’s whether he wants to come to Scotland and all this kind of stuff. “There’s a multitude of factors so I genuinely don’t know if anything will happen before the deadline.”

Meanwhile, Albion Rovers consigned Brechin City to their fifth consecutive defeat of the season with a 3-1 win at Cliftonhill.

Albion went ahead through Ross Dunlop but Craig Johnston equalised from the penalty spot.

Rovers were awarded a spot-kick of their own though, and John Gemmell converted to put his side ahead.

Andy Barrowman then headed his first goal for the club, before Brechin were awarded a second penalty that was saved by Ross Stewart.
