ANDY HALLIDAY reckons Rangers laid down another marker of their title intentions after storming to a 5-1 success over Queen of the South on Sunday.

Mark Warburton’s side made it eight wins from eight games this term as they clinched an impressive win at Palmerston to move top of the Championship standings.

Halliday opened the scoring in Dumfries as he converted after a Barrie McKay pass before a second half spree from Jason Holt, McKay and two Martyn Waghorn penalties earned the Gers the points.

The only downside for Warburton was a late Aidan Smith strike that denied Rangers their fifth clean sheet of the campaign.

Rangers have now turned their attentions to the visit of Raith Rovers this weekend as they bid to make it nine-in-a-row and clinch a place in the Ibrox history books.

And lifelong Light Blue Halliday is pleased to see Warburton’s side firing on all cylinders as they look to maintain their momentum in the coming weeks.

Halliday said: “We have said previously how we want to set down as many markers as we can and it was a big test for us.

“Queen of the South are a good outfit and they caused Rangers a lot of problems last year but we just had to go and do what we do.

“We firmly believe it is about what we do on the park and thankfully we took it to them and got a good result in the end.

“Baz got the assist for the goal and he has been different class since I have come here. He was no different [on Sunday] and thoroughly deserved the Man of the Match.

“A big part of our game is goals and we took the game by the scruff of the neck. Once the first goes in, we always want more and we managed to get a few again.

“I am disappointed for the back four and Wes (Foderingham) to concede one because we want to keep as many clean sheets as we can as well.”
