FORMER Rangers star Haris Vuckic has agreed an extension to his Newcastle United deal – and joined Wigan Athletic on loan until the end of the season.
The Slovenian forward became an instant hit at Ibrox last term as he scored nine goals in 22 appearances for the Light Blues.
Vuckic was one of five players that arrived from Tyneside in a controversial deal in January and while he enjoyed a successful spell in Glasgow, he couldn’t help Stuart McCall’s side win promotion to the Premiership before returning south of the border.
Vuckic has continually been linked with a return to the Gers this summer but boss Mark Warburton dismissed that speculation in the wake of his side’s 5-1 win over Queen of the South on Sunday as they continued their superb start to the season.
The 23-year-old has agreed a two-year extension to his Toon contract but he will spend the coming campaign in League One after clinching a deadline day switch to the DW Stadium.
