DEDRYCK BOYATA has credited his move to Celtic with resurrecting his international career.

The Hoops defender won a shock recall to the Belgium squad this week after moving to Parkhead in the summer.

He hadn't been involved in a squad for four years and admits he was thrilled to get the call into Marc Wilmots' No.2 ranked team in the world for the matches against Bosnia and Cyprus.

He said: "I am delighted to be with the squad again, especially when you consider the quality of player we have now.

"I honestly did not expect this. I did not see it coming.

"Of course I knew about the games coming up for Belgium, butI thought I had no chance of becoming a Red Devil again.

"I was out of the squad for a long, long time and I didn't know if I would ever come back.

"I played one game when I was 19 and had a poor game. It finished 4-4 against Austria.

"My move to Celtic has definitely helped me.

"I feel I have started a new chapter in my life. I just want to show what I can do at Celtic and if it gives me a chance for the national team, then great.

"Since the beginning of the season, I have played a total of 16 or 17 games already including pre-season matches.

"It's a new experience for me playing as many matches in quick succession. I will have to get used to it."

And Boyata has laughed off his successive own goals against Malmo and St Johnstone.

He pointed out: "If you just read that I scored two own goals in two games you would think it was strange, but in both of them the ball hit against me and I couldn't do anything.

"I didn't score them on purpose!"
