Queen of the South striker Derek Lyle is available to face St Mirren tomorrow thanks to the bank holiday.

The Doonhamers appealed the controversial red card handed to the marksman in Sunday's 5-1 loss to Rangers but because of the Monday holiday, the hearing did not take place yesterday.

Lyle was dismissed by referee Bobby Madden just after half-time after pushing his head into Rangers defender Rob Kiernan.

Both Rangers manager Mark Warburton and Queens boss James Fowler claimed the official got the decision wrong.

Lyle is facing a two-game suspension and his appeal will now be heard next Thursday, ahead of Queens' trip to Raith Rovers.

A club spokesperson said: "We can confirm that an appeal was lodged with the SFA against Derek Lyle's dismissal on Sunday against Rangers and, because of the bank holiday earlier this week, that appeal will now not be heard until next Thursday.

"As a result, the suspension is temporarily set aside and Del will be available on Saturday."

Queens, meanwhile, have received official confirmation that their loan signing of Huddersfield striker Liam Coogans until January has been ratified.

Fowler added the former Airdrie striker and Gary Oliver, who was released by Hearts, on Tuesday.
