BARRY Ferguson praised the fitness of his players and urged them to keep proving the critics wrong after beating Annan 4-2.

The Clyde manager believes he has been wrongly questioned for signing a wealth of older, experienced players and insisted that their fitness levels are extremely high.

“I’ve a great bunch who work hard at their game and fitness,” said Ferguson.

“They put so much into things so it is nice that they have been rewarded with a win.

“People have questioned signing a good number of boys who are over 30 but these guys are super-fit.”

Saturday’s win was Clyde’s third in a row and they now only trail new leaders Elgin City by goal difference.

Headed goals from Michael Bolochoweckyj and David Gormley put the Bully Wee two goals up before Annan one back through Matt Flynn , but Scott Linton restored Clyde’s two goal lead with a penalty.

David Marsh made the points secure with an 81st minute strike before Bryan Gilfillan headed in a late consolation for Annan.

Meanwhile, Gus Macpherson was delighted with his Queens Park side’s passing as they thrashed East Stirling 5-1.

MacPherson praised a complete team display from the Spiders with five different scorers: Ryan McGeever, Chris Duggan, Paul Woods, David Galt and John Carter.

He said: “Our passing and movement was excellent. East Stirling couldn’t handle us.”
