JORDAN RHODES has been called back into the Scotland squad for the decisive Euro 2016 double-header with Poland and Gibraltar.

Rhodes has scored five goals in four games for Blackburn Rovers and has been handed another opportunity to stake his claim for a regular place despite having been absent from the recent qualifying matches with Germany and Georgia.

Wolves midfielder Kevin McDonald has been handed a surprise call-up, having been part of the squad for the opening fixture in Group D against the Germans in Dortmund. He is still waiting for his first full cap.

Aberdeen left-back Graeme Shinnie has also been named for the first time in manager Gordon Strachan's panel in the wake of a strong start to the campaign.

Charlie Mulgrew is also included despite being labelled a "major doubt" by his club manager, Ronny Deila. Mulgrew has not played since Celtic's 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen on September 12.

James Morrison of West Bromwich Albion is listed in the squad, but is suspended from the visit of Poland on October 7.
