Partick Thistle will be making sure their fans have a ball at tomorrow’s game against Dundee United – by giving them one.

Two-thousand specially designed footballs by renowned artist Barry McGee will be given to Jags fans as they enter the Firhill turnstiles.

It is the first in a series of limited edition giveaways by the club which will be spread throughout the season, and is the brainchild of Jags sponsor, Kingsford Capital Management.

Managing partner of the firm, Mike Wilkins, said:

“For me, this is all about involving more people in art in innovative ways. It is something that has been very close to my heart for most of my life and having the opportunity to do this with the support of Partick Thistle is fantastic.

“As far as I know, this isn’t something any other sports team has done, either in Scotland or the rest of the world.”

Jags director Ian Maxwell is certain that the concept will go down well with the Firhill faithful.

“From the very start, the partnership with Kingsford Capital Management has been more than a straightforward sponsorship – you saw that with the amazing response to Kingsley,” he said.

“These giveaways are the continuation of that and I hope they are just as successful as the launch of our mascot was.”

The balls will be distributed to supporters outside the Jackie Husband and North Stands prior to kick-off.
