GLASGOW'S top two scored maximums against Plymouth Devils as the Tigers booked their place in the semi-finals of the Premier League play-offs.

Aaron Summers and Richard Lawson both went through the card in a stunning display from the duo - leading their side to a 56-34 victory.

No.3 Nick Morris was only beaten by an opponent once as he continued his return to form.

And with just two points to make up from Friday's first leg, it was more than enough to set up a double-header with Somerset next weekend.

It was the perfect tonic for the Tigers after their defeat in the League Cup Final seven days ago - and particularly for No 1 Lawson, who'd had a torrid time in his last three outings.

The Cumbrian said: "On a personal note it was good to come back. The last three meetings were a bit of a disaster with me riding badly and a few things on the bikes.

"In our last home match I blew my main bike and had to go on the spare - I wasn't really dialled in to ride that bike and kind of struggled on it - and then at Plymouth I had clutch trouble in my first race and that kind of spoiled it there.

"But I've put it behind me - the clutches are good and the engines are good - and I'm really fired up for next week."

Lawson partnered Summers to a 5-1 in the final race - but both almost ended up in the fence as Summers shot round the outside of his partner going into the third bend on the first lap, just as Lawson drifted wide.

The pair joked about it afterwards and Lawson said: "I presumed he was going to follow me in and then at the last minute, I saw him mid-corner, after I'd already put him a bit wide, so I turned back and luckily he got around me."

Glasgow had another scare in heat 14 when Kauko Nieminen, who was improving with every race, clipped Plymouth's Linus Eklof in the second bend - sending him high-side off the bike and landing heavily on the track.

But he remarkably walked away from the incident with no injuries - just a little dazed.

Nemo said: "I think I'm just coming around but I'm not too bad.

"I was running so wide and he made a little mistake in front of me and I just clipped his back wheel. It's just one of those things."

The Tigers travel to Somerset on Friday night with the second leg at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium next Sunday at 3pm.

The winners will face either Peterborough or Edinburgh in the final.

Tigers scorers: Aaron Summers 15 (max), Richard Lawson 13+2 (paid max), Nick Morris 11, Victor Palovaara 6+2, Hynek Stichauer 4+1, James Sarjeant 4, Kauko Nieminen 3+2.
