LEE WALLACE insists the Rangers squad should be proud of their efforts in the opening weeks of the campaign after extending their perfect Championship record.

And the Ibrox skipper is confident there is even more to come from Mark Warburton’s side as they look to stretch their advantage at the top of the table.

The Gers made it nine league wins on the spin with a 3-1 triumph over Falkirk on Saturday as Wallace rounded off the scoring after goals from Dean Shiels and James Tavernier.

Rangers have already opened up a commanding lead in the title race but the left-back is determined to keep up the momentum for as long as possible.

Wallace said: “The overriding emotion in the dressing room is that we are proud of what we have achieved so far in terms of our league record.

“We have won nine games from nine, have 27 points and are nine points ahead of our nearest challengers at this moment in time.

“We have to be proud of that and the effort so far but we know what still has to be done.

“We are not going to win 5-0, 6-0 every week. Opposition teams have different game plans, we might not reach the levels we aspire to, which, on Saturday, we probably didn’t.

“But we have to be pleased in the dressing room with our efforts and our hard work that has got us to where we are just now.

“We are not going to rest on that. We are going to have a break and recharge our batteries.

“We have a couple of guys on international duty so hopefully they come back unscathed.

“We will look to come in after the break and really give it another push and maintain this run and get back to the levels we need to be playing at.”

After rounding off the first quarter of the campaign with another win, Warburton will give his squad some down time during the international break after electing to postpone the Petrofac Training Cup tie with Livingston that was scheduled for Friday evening.

And Wallace is determined Rangers will be ready to hit the ground running when they return to action at home to Queen of the South a week on Saturday.

He said: “We will enjoy our time off and the break is welcome, it has come at a good time after the first quarter of the season.

“It is a welcome break and we will make sure that we make the most of it.

“We will rest properly, recharge the batteries, freshen up the legs and make sure that we come back ready to work hard, to go again and to do even better in the next part of the season.”
