MARK WARBURTON reckons there are some tough Championship challenges ahead for Rangers as they look to extend their second tier winning streak.

The Light Blues have put themselves in a commanding position in the title race after taking a maximum 27 points from their first nine league outings this term.

Rangers have turned in a series of impressive performances as they have made a flying start to the campaign and hit the goal trail in recent weeks.

Warburton’s side will host Queen of the South at Ibrox on Saturday before making trips to St Mirren and Hibernian on league duty as they look to pull further clear in the standings.

The Light Blue legions have been hugely impressed with the new look side Warburton has assembled and the free-flowing style of play he has implemented this term.

But the former Brentford boss knows his side can take nothing for granted as they bid to keep up the momentum in second quarter of the campaign.

Warburton said: “It is very similar to last year, in terms of there are some shock results every week, someone can beat someone, anyone can beat anyone.

“We have to be aware of that. We have to be aware of the different type of challenges we are going to face, be it the surfaces when they start to deteriorate, we have played at some tough places and difficult venues to go to.

“Likewise, the home crowd. The expectations are high now and we have a fantastic support behind us so we have to respond to that, recognise the responsibility, and deliver the performances.

“There is no doubt there is some really tough fixtures ahead and things won’t always go our way.

“But if we can maintain this work ethic and quality then we will be in a good place come the end of the season.”
