MARK WARBURTON is delighted his new-look Rangers squad have quickly formed a Light Blue bond at Ibrox this season.

Warburton and assistant David Weir had to overhaul the Murray Park first team pool when they were named as the Gers’ management team in June and he has enjoyed success in the transfer market as his string of arrivals have hit the ground running this term.

The likes of James Tavernier, Jason Holt and Martyn Waghorn have all made an immediate impact and helped Rangers open up a five point lead over Hibernian at the top of the Championship standings.

The Ibrox crowd are confident there is plenty more to come from Warburton’s side this season as the 53-year-old looks for further acquisitions during the January transfer window and spends more time working with his squad on the training pitch.

Warburton has spoken previously about not wanting to upset the balance of the dressing room with an influx of fresh faces and he is pleased at how those he has brought to Ibrox have settled so far.

He said: “I think it’s gone well in terms of the harmony of the dressing room. That could always be a difficult one.

“You can look at a player’s ability, if he’s technically sound but you are never quite sure how he’s going to fit into your group.

“That’s gone really well for us. There’s a definite bond and unity among the group which is really important for us. You’ve seen that with the late goals.

“Our job is to make sure we don’t bring a bad egg in there. One wrong character in a dressing room can destroy it quickly.

“We’ve done what we think is right for the players. Pre-season went well – we did it all with a football.

“They started quick and strong and the injury record has been good. We’re in good shape.

“Getting the expertise of the right people is very important.”
