NATHAN MacMILLAN (Troon) As a treat for my 10th birthday my granddad took me to see Scotland play Ukraine at Hampden. This would be in October 2007. Scotland won 3-1 and scored two very early goals. Who were the scorers?
Scotland’s first goal came after three minutes, when Kenny Miller headed home a James McFadden free-kick.
After nine minutes Lee McCulloch made it 2-0 with a fine shot into the top right hand corner of the net.
Milan Sheva got one back for Ukraine in 24 minutes. James McFadden made the points safe after 67 minutes with a fine shot.
R. ROBERTSON (Glasgow) What information do you have on the career of the black player who wore the No.7 shirt for Monaco against Rangers at Ibrox in 1962?
We believe the player is Djibrill Karimou who was born on June 6, 1933, in Lome, Togo.
In Togo he played for Shooting Star Lome between 1951 and 1957. He then played a season at S.O. Millau in France before moving to A. Monaco.
At Monaco he won the League Championship in 1961 and 1963 and the French Cup in 1963. He scored 42 goals for Monaco and played 185 times during his seven years there.
While at Monaco he played in six European Cup matches and scored a goal against AEK Athens on September 18, 1963, in a preliminary round of the European Cup.
In 1965 he moved to French Division 2 side Sporting Toulon Var. During his three years there he played 91 times and scored 32 goals. He then spent one season at French club La Ciotat.
WILLIAM (Hurlford) My dad has an old football programme from Wolverhampton Wanderers v Kilmarnock, in the Texaco Cup, on September 12, 1972. It was a first round first leg match. Can you tell me what the score was?
The match was played at Wolves’ Molineux ground. Killie actually led 1-0 at half-time.
However, Wolves stormed back in the second period to win 5-1. The second leg at Rugby Park ended goal-less.
