FA chief executive Martin Glenn declared that England's friendly against France tonight is a chance to show the world that "terrorism can't win".

Roy Hodgson's England host Les Bleus four days after 129 people were killed and hundreds more injured in a series of attacks in the French capital.

Various tributes are planned for the match in memory of the victims of the attack, including the singing of French national anthem La Marseillaise, and Glenn says the eyes of the world will be on Wembley.

He said: "This is going to have massive global significance - the first major event since Friday. It is a chance to demonstrate terrorism can't win.

"We can't afford to let this act of terror cow us."

Glenn also urged supporters to turn up early for the friendly, partly because of the tributes planned just prior to the 8pm kick-off but also because of the security checks that will be in place.

Glenn said there will be an increased "physical police presence" for the match.

But Germany coach Joachim Low admits he was in two minds about tonight's friendly against Holland going ahead following the Paris attacks.

It had been suggested the match in Hanover would be called off after Germany were caught up in the attacks, with explosions heard outside the Stade de France during their friendly against France on Friday night as suicide bombers detonated devices.

The German team remained inside the venue until Saturday morning for security reasons and the game against Holland had been in doubt, but will now go ahead

"It was a horrible, terrible night," said Low.

"Once we had landed back in Frankfurt, I had the feeling that the Holland game could not take place.

"But having slept on it for a night, it became clear that the game had to go ahead.

"It's going to be a clear message for freedom and democracy. It is about respect and support for our French friends.

"If we manage to turn this game into a signal, then we will already have won, regardless of the result.

"We are all of the opinion that it's good that we stand by our values and that this game takes place."
