Albion Rovers manager Darren Young is hoping that his side can maintain their fine run of form in tonight’s rearranged match against Cowdenbeath.

That is, of course, if the match goes ahead at the fourth time of asking.

Adverse weather in Lanarkshire in November is hardly unusual after all, but after hosting Dunfermline at Cliftonhill on Saturday, Young is confident that Rovers can finally get the game on this evening.

“I think it should be fine,” he said.

“I’ve spoken to the groundsman and he seems to think the pitch will be ok.

“It’s the fourth time we’ve tried to play the game as it was called off on the Saturday and then two consecutive Tuesday’s, so fourth time lucky hopefully!

“It was a great result against Dunfermline and we probably would have taken a draw at the start of the game. They are probably my favourites for the title, but on the day we showed fantastic work-rate, determination and character. Just at times that final wee pass let us down which was the only slight disappointment, but we’re delighted with a point against the only full-time team in the league.

“It says a lot about the boys, we’ve got a good hungry bunch with a good mix of experienced guys who have been there and done it with up and coming guys who are maybe looking to push on to a higher level.

“They’re putting themselves in the shop window and they haven’t let themselves down by any manner of means.”

With Cowdenbeath coming into the game off the back of a thumping 7-0 defeat at Peterhead, it may seem that a banker home win is on the cards.

Young is guarding against complacency though, and insists his men aren’t getting carried away by their lofty league position.

He said: “We’re still working on making sure we get enough points to make sure that the relegation side of things is fine, anything else is for the last quarter of the season and if you’re still there or thereabouts then you can start talking about it.

“At the moment we’re just concentrating on getting as many points on the board as we can.

“The boys know that there can be no complacency. From their point of view there’s nothing better than getting back out there quickly after you’ve been beaten, especially in that manner, but if we can get an early goal then it might put a bit of doubt in their minds again.

We’ve got a small 18-man squad and the guys know that if they aren’t producing then they will be out of the team.

“We’ve got quality on the bench now and whoever comes in then the side won’t be weakened, so no one will be taking their place for granted.”
