Jose Mourinho played down rumours of a rift with striker Diego Costa after leaving him on the bench during yesterday's Barclays Premier League stalemate at Tottenham.

Costa tossed his substitute's bib in the direction of his manager in the dying seconds of the drab White Hart Lane encounter but Mourinho later shrugged off the incident.

The result extended Tottenham's unbeaten run to 13 games but did little to kick-start Chelsea's season as they looked tired after their midweek Champions League trip to Israel.

Hugo Lloris made a fine save to deny Eden Hazard a first goal of the season after Son Heung-min had spurned the best opportunity of the first half following Harry Kane's cross.

Arsene Wenger suffered a double-blow as his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Norwiich at Carrow Road and he lost striker Alexis Sanchez with a suspected hamstring injury.

Mesut Ozil opened the scoring for the Gunners before Lewis Grabban equalised for the Canaries whose boss Alex Neil finished frustrated that his side were not able to take all three points.

The Gunners had already lost Laurent Koscielny to injury before Sanchez hobbled off on the hour mark - with Wenger admitting later the striker had experienced hamstring problems in the midweek win over Dinamo Zagreb.

James Milner's 62nd-minute penalty proved enough for Liverpool to give boss Jurgen Klopp his first home victory over Swansea at Anfield.

Milner ended the wait for an Anfield Premier League victory stretching back to September 26 but it was an uninspiring performance against the resolute visitors.

In a game of few chances Jordon Ibe forced a save out of Lukasz Fabianski before delivering the cross which was handled by Neil Taylor and led to the only goal.

Rickie Lambert climbed off the bench to rescue a point for West Brom in a 1-1 draw against West Ham at Upton Park.

The striker had been on the pitch just five minutes as a half-time substitute when his shot deflected in off Hammers defender Winston Reid.

The fortuitous strike cancelled out a superb free-kick from Mauro Zarate which had given West Ham an early lead - and left the hosts without a win in four games.
