Celtic have invited 18-year-old Irish forward Darragh Markey to the club to take a look at him this weekend.

The Dublin-born St Pat’s teenager is expected to jet into Glasgow on Saturday morning and play in a bounce game on Sunday afternoon before returning to Ireland.

It is believed that Markey has been scouted by a number of clubs, with an interest credited in the player from the English Premiership.

With St Pat’s about to embark on pre-season training ahead of the Irish League kicking off in March, Markey has been given permission for the weekend off the head to Celtic.

Celtic have already invited 17-year-old Norwegian defender Kristoffer Ajer for a trial this week as they look to bring in youth players who can grow into the first-team.

Ronny Deila and Celtic assistant John Collins were spotted taking in Everton’s game against Manchester City on Wednesday night as they attempt to seek out further options to bolster the squad.

Aleksandar Pantic has been watched by Deila as the Norwegian attempts to shore up what has been an unsettled defence this season while Croatian midfielder Ivan Mocinic and Walsall’s Romaine Sawyers have also come to the attention of the club.

Mocinic made his senior debut for Croatia at the end of the year and the holding midfielder has been scouted by the Parkhead club.

Similarly, Libor Kozak, the 26-year-old out of favour Aston Villa forward, has been watched more than once by Deila. Emil Berggreen, a Danish under-21 internationalist, has also been on the radar of the Celtic manager as he seeks to build a team capable of negotiating the Champions League qualifying games which come in July.

However, it is understood that Cardiff target Wout Weghorst, has not been targeted by Celtic. The Dutch striker was subject of a £700,000 bid from Cardiff City and the 23-year-old had claimed to media in his homeland that Celtic were also keen on his services.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s game against Dundee which was postponed due to increment weather has been re-arranged for Tuesday, 9th February at 7.45pm at Dens Park.
