Kris Doolan has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal at Partick Thistle to extend his stay at the club until June 2019.

The striker sealed the extension to his current deal yesterday, meaning that he will qualify for a testimonial should he see it out after ten years of service.

Doolan is currently fifteenth in the all-time Thistle scoring charts, and has set his sights on climbing that table with seven goals to his name already this season.

Partick Thistle’s assistant manager, Scott Paterson, was unsurprisingly thrilled to have got the deal over the line.

He said: “We’re absolutely delighted. It’s great news for the fans, for the club and for the team.

“First and foremost he’s one of the best professionals I’ve worked with. He’s great about the place, gives everything he’s got in training. He’s an all-round model professional, and one that I think every young player at Thistle should look up to, take lessons from his work ethic and watch how he goes about his business. He’s a role model with a great attitude to his work.

“Everything he does is done with utmost professionalism. You never get any trouble out of him, he just wants to work hard and score goals. It’s not just his goalscoring though, it’s his overall work on the ball and he also does a lot of work defensively for us as well.

“He’s got one of the best first touches that I’ve came across in football, and I’ve been lucky enough to play with some fantastic players.

“He’s well-known for his ability take a ball out of the sky, and when he’s on-song he’s a joy to watch.

“He’s also worked on his physique and got more physical as well. I think that’s important in the modern game, and he can make life hard for centre-backs.

“He’s hard to get off the ball and he’s got great balance as well, and he’s able to withstand a bit of pressure now from a centre-half, so credit to him for that too.

“We’re delighted that he’s signed on and hopefully he can keep banging the goals in.”
