Striker Theo Robinson has left Motherwell to join Port Vale.

Motherwell signed the 27-year-old in late August despite having Scott McDonald, Louis Moult, Wes Fletcher and David Clarkson competing for a place up front and Robinson found game time limited.

The Jamaica international did not score in 11 appearances, eight of which came from the bench, and has signed for the Sky Bet League One side until the end of the season.

Motherwell boss Mark McGhee, who replaced Ian Baraclough as manager in October told his club's official website: "It's not quite worked out for Theo here at Fir Park, but that can happen, particularly if the manager who signs you leaves so soon after you arrive.

"This is a good opportunity for us to try and reshape the squad a little during the January window."

Vale manager Rob Page told his club's website: "We're over the moon to have added Theo to the squad. He's a striker who looks to run in behind and score goals and he's got vast experience in the Football League as well."

Page has also signed former Kilmarnock winger Matthew Kennedy on a month's loan from Cardiff.
