Ronny Deila has insisted that no-one should underestimate the challenge of trying to win a domestic Treble.

The Celtic manager is under pressure to perform a clean sweep on the home front to compensate for what was a poor European campaign this season, with the club failing to make it into the Champions League group stages before crashing out of the Europa League.

But while the claim has been made that it is easier in the aftermath of the Rangers crisis for Celtic to win a Treble, Deila has maintained that it is a hurdle which is as tough as ever.

“How can I judge myself from what was before?” said Deila when informed that previous Celtic managers had a harder job. “I can only deal with what is now. We always have respect for the other team.

“The teams are developing – Aberdeen are taking more points, Hearts are getting better and more consistent and they are a tougher team to meet.

"It is important to give others credit as well and not say that everything is so bad. Why do we play football here if everything is so easy? You could just give us the three trophies at once?

“Maybe it was harder but it hasn’t been done since Rangers left so it can’t be so easy.

"Neil Lennon is a good manager but, like you saw last year, it is small details. We won a lot of games, we won the league, we won the League Cup but it is not done easily.”

Meanwhile, Deila believes that Celtic’s experience of playing and performing under pressure will give them the edge as they head into the League Cup semi-final against Ross County at Hampden on Sunday.

It is the first hurdle for the Norwegian’s side as they tried to bag all three trophies and Deila believes his men are ready for the encounter.

“I think everyone knows what we are playing for,” he said. “It is intensity and having fun in training and building them up physically and mentally to be ready for the game and not try to revolutionise the whole team and teach all sorts of things in the last week.

“They need to get set for teams and be ready. It is difficult here because you have big games all the time so trying to get some learning in is a challenge and you have to take it calmly. But we have a lot of experience of games like this and that is an advantage for us.”

One major bonus for Deila is the return of Scott Brown to fitness.

The Hoops skipper has joined in with full training, although it is expected that Sunday’s game may come around too quickly for him.

Tom Rogic, too, is still out with an ankle injury while Danish defender Erik Sviatchenko is in contention for a start.
