KENNY MILLER is determined to rise to the challenge and retain his Rangers starting jersey after a trio of attacking arrivals at Ibrox.

Boss Mark Warburton completed a loan deal for Hearts winger Billy King last week before clinching a move for Michael O’Halloran as he made the switch from St Johnstone.

King made an instant impact in Light Blue against Falkirk at the weekend as he netted a last minute winner to clinch a crucial win for the Gers.

And O’Halloran made a positive first impression on his debut against Raith Rovers on Tuesday as Warburton’s side maintained their eight point lead in the Championship title race.

The Ibrox boss is also running the rule over Harry Forrester as he looks to prove his worth and win an extension to the short-term deal he agreed last month.

Miller has played a key role in Rangers’ forward line so far this season as he has chipped in with 12 goals and been rewarded with a new contract for next term.

Now the 36-year-old is confident he can see off the threat of the Gers stars who are eyeing his starting jersey in the remainder of the campaign.

Miller said: “It’s healthy competition. It was a bit of a saga trying to sign Michael.

“We got Kingy, which was a bit out of the blue, but they’re two great additions.

“We needed bodies in the squad to beef it up a little bit and we’ve managed to get them with Harry coming in and big Magic (Maciej Gostomski) as well.

“It’s been a decent January for us. The squad looks a lot healthier now.

“He (O’Halloran) is not as good as me! I was speaking to him the other day and he played up front last week against Hibs in the cup but he can play wide as well.

“I know I can play wide, but I’m a forward. He’s probably a little bit more comfortable on the left or right.

“He is pacey, which is always a great asset to have. I’ve not seen too much of him but I’m sure he’ll be a great addition to the squad.

“So far he has [been quiet]. We’ve only come across him in the last few days. We got him in on Monday and had the game on Tuesday.

"Everybody is always quiet when they move into a new club so I’m sure he’ll come out of his shell soon enough.”
