Braehead Clan last night clinched the signing of former Finnish international Toni Dahlman.

And the 36-year-old forward will be instantly pitched into action for tonight's clash against the Edinburgh Capitals.

Dahlman, who will be with the Clan until the end of the season, arrives in Scotland after a spell in Poland with Sanok and brings with him a wealth of experience across a variety of leagues, including the NHL.

And now Dahlman is looking forward to experiencing what Scotland and the Elite League has to offer.

He said: "I'm an experienced player and I consider myself a two-way player as well as someone who can pick up points.

"I hope I can get the team some points and be as effective in offence as I am in defence, but overall bring good quality.

"I'd heard a lot of good things about the UK in the past and when Braehead called me with a deal, it was something I wanted to try.

"I've been hearing a lot of positive things about the club and can't wait to get over there and start playing."

Dahlman played in the NHL in the 2001/02 season with the Ottawa Senators and has also played in Sweden, Germany, Austria and his native Finland.

He'll be the second Finn to play in the Braehead purple, following on from former netminder Jaakko Suomalainen, who was between the pipes in the 2011/12 campaign.
