MICHAEL O’HALLORAN last night admitted it’s never good enough for Rangers to drop points and promised he would score and create the goals which will win the Championship.

A first start for his new club brought his first goal, a much-needed equaliser at Alloa, and the winger wants to keep contributing big time between now and the end of the season.

O’Halloran may have dropped down a level when he left St Johnstone for Ibrox, but he is now at a club and a position which means that any draw is seen as a mini-disaster.

And he hopes to play a huge part for Rangers in terms of winning games after getting off the mark with a fine and important finish.

O’Halloran said: “We are supposed to win every game – and we should have beaten Alloa – and that is the difference being at this club.

“It was disappointing not to win but we need to brush ourselves down and get ready for the Kilmarnock cup game. I just wish I wasn’t cup-tied.

“I hope that is the first of many goals for Rangers. As a winger, my job is to create goals as well and the hope for me is that I can chip in with as many goals as I can get this season.”

O’Halloran was mobbed by autograph hunters after Saturday’s game and while a draw was not what anyone at Rangers wanted, the January signing found it hard to take the smile off his face.

He said: “So far, I have loved it. We have a great set of lads, the management team have a good philosophy, the way they want to play football, which is good for me. I am loving every minute of it.

“It obviously took a bit of time to get the deal done and I was always going to need time to settle into my new surroundings, as you would in any new job. I can’t complain about anything.

“The supporters have been brilliant with me. They always turn up in their numbers to back us. You can’t ask for any more than that. It was just unfortunate that we couldn’t get a winner for them on Saturday.”

Kenny Miller paid tribute to O’Halloran and the way he kept his head to rescue a point with seven minutes of the match remaining.

Miller said: “It will be great for Michael. It looked like it was going to come at some point. He was fortunate enough to get on the end of a decent move and produced a good finish.

“When an attacking player like him comes to a club they want to get off the mark as soon as possible. He saved us a point, but we were really disappointed it wasn’t three.”
