Callum McGregor has put his off-field issues behind him to come back into the Celtic team in a looser role than he had before.

The midfielder has got the energy to play that position and with goals in his locker as well, he has been a good asset to draw on.

He has netted two goals in his last two games and we are starting to see the kind of form he showed when he first emerged into the senior side at the start of last season.

When you are playing in a wide position it is inevitable that there will be quieter spells in a game where you don’t see so much of the ball, but he has been influential in recent games playing further inside.

The way he has been playing in the past few outings will have rekindled his own confidence.

He does have something that gives Celtic some vibrancy and energy and that will be required going forward into the last nine games of the season which are not critical as well as the forthcoming William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final.

You need as many players now hitting their peak as Celtic look to consolidate a league and Cup double, but it will take a level of consistency that hasn’t always been evident this season.
