RONNY Deila today revealed he will reprise the “Ronny Roar” during the Ladbrokes Premiership run-in if his side keeps winning - to thank Celtic fans for their support.

Deila treated the crowd to his trademark victory celebration – punching the air three times in rapid succession - after the 1-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday.

It was the first time since the 3-1 defeat to Molde in a Europa League group game in his native Norway back in October that it had been seen at a ground in Scotland.

Many Hoops supporters have been unhappy with how the Scottish champions have performed both domestically and in Europe this season and have called for the 40-year-old to be replaced.

But Deila has explained that he did the “Ronny Roar” to thank fans for their support during a tense game in Ayrshire. Asked why he had brought it back, he said: “It was just that the fans were so good. I really appreciated how they were.

“For me, I wanted to give them some thanks for that and show them that it meant a lot to me. Is it back for good now? We will see. Hopefully there will be a lot to do it for."

Deila continued: “There was a lot of emotion coming out when we had that beautiful strike by Tom Rogic. You can’t hold it inside, you have to let it out. It was a fantastic feeling.

“We took a big chance in the end. We played a diamond in midfield with Patrick (Roberts) on one side and we were very open with two strikers. But one point is nothing. We went for three and we got them.

“The fans were fantastic. There could have been a lot of disappointment in the way we played, but they stood behind their team. It was fantastic to give them that win in the end. It’s important that the fans support Celtic. It’s not just me, but I am part of Celtic, and that’s why they support me.

“Of course there are going to be questions. Of course there are going to be people who are not happy. But that’s because they care about the product. But as long as I am here people will support me because I am part of Celtic.”

Celtic moved four points clear of Aberdeen, who have played a game more than them, in the Premiership table on Saturday after their nearest rivals lost 2-1 to Motherwell at Fir Park.

Deila, whose side aren’t in action again until they host Hearts at Parkhead on Saturday week due to the international break, admitted the win over Kilmarnock could be a major turning point in the season.

“When you are fighting for titles, there are so many crucial moments during a season,” he said. “This was one of the best ones, of course. It can be a very important one when we sum up at the end.

“It could be a major moment in the title race. It could be. We have three in a row now and that’s good. We just have to keep on winning games and in the end it will be hard to catch us. It’s getting closer and closer. It’s going to be a big, big title if we get there.”
