DANNY WILSON is delighted to see Kenny Miller rolling back the years and Barrie McKay coming of age at Ibrox this season.

The duo have been key to Rangers’ title challenge as they have turned in a series of impressive performances in the Light Blues forward line.

Miller has scored 16 times for Mark Warburton’s side this term while McKay has arguably been the Gers’ Player of the Year as he has shone in the Ibrox spotlight.

Both were on target against Falkirk on Friday night as Rangers let their two goal lead slip and suffered a rare Championship defeat.

But defender Wilson has been impressed with the fine form of the attacking pair throughout the campaign for Warburton’s side.

He said: “If you have watched those two over the course of the season, Baz has been out on loan and has come back in and made a real impression.

“With Kenny, everyone knows what he is all about. Even this season, I always had a lot of respect for Kenny as a player, but watching him even more you can see what a top, top player he is.

“He is a top professional. People say he is 35, but even if he was turning in those performances at 25 it would be very, very impressive.

“He has been great and he is getting the goals now. He is the focal point of our team and hopefully he can continue in that form for the rest of the season because he is a key, key player for us on the pitch and off it.

“His (McKay) performances this season have been very impressive. Sometimes with young players they need that spell when they are playing consistently and he had that over his loan spells.

“Sometimes when you go away, you come back and the penny really drops when you are back here and you want to do well.

“I think that is what has happened with Baz. He has really kicked on this year, he has earned his contract and he has played nearly every game.

“He has been a top performer for us and he deserves everything he is getting now and the plaudits he is getting because he has been so consistent.”

Miller and McKay put Rangers on course for another Championship victory at Westfield last week but saw their early strikes count for little come the final whistle.

A late collapse allowed the Bairns to snatch all three points and leave Warburton’s side hurting as they missed the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table.

And Wilson has revealed there were some home truths shared in the away dressing room as the Gers squad chewed over a night to forget.

He told RangersTV: “Even when we win, we sometimes have quite harsh words with each other because we have set a really high standard this year.

“It was no different on Friday night. It was one of the most disappointing results of the season, and also the most disappointing performance I would say second half.

“We have had words with each other but we are all honest enough and respect each other enough to have that honesty and know that it is for the good of the team.

“None of us are above criticism or taking criticism from one another. It wasn’t a great place to be in the changing room after the defeat but we got it all out in the open, we take it on the chin and we move on.”
