Hoops captain Scott Brown believes that Celtic are fully capable of going on an unbeaten run between now and the end of the season.

Ronny Deila’s side have the opportunity to turn the screw on Aberdeen tomorrow night as they seek to take another significant step towards a fifth successive title.

Celtic play Dundee at Dens Park with a win moving them back to seven points clear at the top of the table.

And Brown has told Aberdeen that Celtic are gearing up to head firmly out of sight as the finish line start to loom ever closer.

“There is no doubt that we can go through the remaining seven league games unbeaten now – and that is exactly what we intend to do. Plus there is a Scottish Cup semi-final and possible final so there is a lot for us to be looking forward to.

“We always want to win every game but I think we are starting to feel as though we have got a fair bit of momentum behind us now.

“There is silverware up for offer now and we know what we have to do. We have put a bit of light between ourselves and Aberdeen now and the aim is to keep moving forward now.

“I am sure they are looking over their shoulder now. We plan to kick on now and try to be as consistent as possible. The results have been good and it is just a case of keeping ourselves going forward.”

Consistency has been an issue for Celtic this term on league duty, but Brown insisted that there has never been a seed of doubt within the minds of the Hoops squad as they have looked towards securing the title.

“We have always believed in ourselves,” he insisted. “We haven’t played as well as we would have liked at times but I think we have always believed ourselves fully capable of winning the league.

“But it is not about talking. It is about results and what you do on the pitch.”

Meanwhile, Brown has lamented the loss of Croatian defender Jozo Simunovic who is out for the remainder of the campaign after undergoing surgery on his knee.

It will be a fight for the £5m defender to be fit now in time for the crucial European qualifiers in July and Brown has acknowledged the disappointment of the player being out of the squad, particularly since he brackets him among the best he has played with.

“Jozo and big Virgil van Dijk would be the best defenders I have played with in my career,” said the Celtic captain.

“It is a huge blow for us. But all he can do is get his head down and come back as soon as possible because I think he has been a big miss. It is difficult for him. Coming back and then breaking down is tough mentally but we have to hope that he will come back and stronger and better than before.”

And while the Hoops midfielder was vocal last week with his criticisms of the Hampden turf ahead of the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final later this month, he has insisted that it will not detract from his focus ahead of the game.

“It is not an excuse,” he said. “I have said my piece about it but on the day there will be two teams going out to win the game and it will be exactly the same for both of us.

“But that is not something that we are thinking too much about at this stage. There are a few league games between now and then and that is what we really want to focus on.

“The league is always what takes priority. It is what opens the door to the Champions League and we just want to keep the run going, keep the momentum going.

“I have been over the course before and I know how important that can be. It can carry you through and hopefully we are getting to a point just now where we are all enjoying our football and looking to get over the line.”

The midfielder himself was brought back into the fray following a three-month lay-off with a knee injury perhaps earlier than might have been advisable this season.

Ronny Deila spoke of Brown's energy and will to win as crucial for the influence they have on those around them but there has been a suggestion that the player himself has never quite the hit the heights of which he is capable of since returning.

However, he has insisted that he is fully fit.

"I feel fine," he stated. "I always want to play and I have plenty of football left in me - or at least I like to think so.

"It can be hard when you are out for a long time with an injury and then you come back in but I am just happy to be playing my part.

"We're getting to the business end of the season and I want to have an influence on that."
