JASON HOLT is holding out hopes that Rangers can land a momentous treble as his sights get focused on Celtic.

The Light Blues go into the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final with their Parkhead rivals on the back of a momentous week.

Not only did they secure the Ladbrokes Championship title last Tuesday by beating Dumbarton at Ibrox, but they followed that up just five days later with a resounding 4-0 triumph in the Petrofac Training Cup final.

Holt has quickly settled in to life at Murray Park since he signed last summer to become a key cog in Mark Warburton’s silverware-chasing team.

And now that two trophies have already been bagged by Rangers, the prospect of going up against Premiership champions Celtic is not enough to stop him believing his side have what it takes to add a third.

Glasgow Times:

“I hope so,” said the midfielder. “If we do the things we are capable of and work hard like we have always done then we have a chance.

“I’m delighted and over the moon [to have won the Petrofac final].

“You come to a club like Rangers to win silverware and we’ve managed to do that this season, but there are still big games coming up.

“We will look to them and enjoy the moment.”

Sunday will arguably be the biggest game of Holt’s career, no mean feat given he was part of Hearts’ Championship-winning squad last season.

The 23-year-old was again in fine form this weekend against Peterhead as Rangers got to grips with their Hampden surroundings before Sunday’s Old Firm clash.

Glasgow Times:

It is an experience that Holt reckons was worthwhile as Mark Warburton’s team prepare for the toughest test of their campaign.

He is confident, however, that the Gers have performed at a high enough level this season to get the job done this weekend.

“Yes. I think we’ve proved that, especially in some of the cup games this season, that we are more than good enough and we will look to take that into Sunday,” said Holt.

“I’m really looking forward to it. The boys got a taste of Hampden and the surroundings on Sunday, and all the focus will now go on Celtic.

“They will be a really big test. They have quality players and they are a good side. We just need to keep doing the things we are good at and hope it comes good on the day.”

It is a fixture that through up a poor contest last year in the League Cup semi-final as Celtic cantered to a 2-0 victory.

Many believe this meeting will offer a much more accurate test of how evenly the two teams are matched as they get ready to meet on a more regular basis next season.

Holt is not ready to use this crunch tie as a yardstick for the future. Instead, the central midfielder is content to focus on the here and now.

“It’s been a good season so far and yeah we have won the league and now the Petrofac Cup, but next week is a good game,” said the former Hearts playmaker.

“All the boys are looking forward to it and are confident going into it.”

When asked if this Celtic team had weaknesses he and his Rangers team-mates can expose, he added: “That’s not for me to decide. We will concentrate on ourselves and take it from there.”
