CELTIC have the chance to win the Ladbrokes Premiership against Aberdeen while Dundee could relegate city rivals Dundee United after the post-split fixtures were released yesterday.

The Parkhead club are eight points clear at the top of the Scottish flight in their pursuit of a fifth consecutive title, while Mixu Paatelainen’s team are adrift at the foot of it by the same margin.

Yesterday morning SPFL bosses released details of the final five sets of fixtures as matters at both ends of the table still remain unresolved, leaving supporters trawling through the various permutations and dates.

The main talking point thrown up revolves around Celtic being able to clinch the title against Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen on May 8 at Parkhead. This possibility could become a reality if Celtic overcome Ross County and Hearts then beat Aberdeen after the Pittodrie club take care of St Johnstone and Motherwell.

Both teams will finish the campaign at home with Ronny Deila’s men hosting Motherwell and Aberdeen welcoming Ross County.

Dundee United supporters will have been less than pleased to hear that their fate could be sealed in a particularly painful manner on Monday May 2.

If Dundee United lose to Hamilton and Kilmarnock beat Inverness Caley Thistle, Paul Hartley’s team will have the opportunity to relegate their city rivals.

However, the fixtures for the last five rounds have not gone done well in all quarters.

Fans of Kilmarnock face an early rise on Sunday April 24 to get to Inverness for their 12.30pm kick-off, while Hamilton supporters face a similar trip to the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium on Wednesday May 11.

In their pursuit of fourth place and a potential Europa League qualifying spot, Mark McGhee’s Motherwell travel to Dingwall on the same night in their fixture with Ross County.

The final round of bottom six fixtures all take place on Saturday May 14 with a 12.30pm kick-off.

The last card in the top half of the table takes place a day later as Celtic host Motherwell, Aberdeen take on Ross County and St Johnstone travel to Tynecastle to play Hearts.
