Ronny Deila has admitted that Celtic will celebrate a fifth successive title win if they beat Hearts at Tynecastle this afternoon.

The Hoops’ massive goals difference – they are currently 36 goals better off than Aberdeen – would mean that whatever happens later in the day at Pittodrie that Celtic’s advantage is effectively insurmountable.

And Deila has admitted that they will pop the champagne in the dressing room should Celtic take all three points from Hearts at lunchtime.

“If we win tomorrow and we lose it I will know then that I don’t have anything to do in football,” smiled the Norwegian. “If we win we are champions – even I can say that. There are too many goals.

“So everything is about ourselves and getting three points in the game.

“If we win the league after 38 games then of course we have a right to celebrate. The best team in Scotland is the team who wins the league and that is hopefully going to be us. It is a big game and a big opportunity for us tomorrow.

“We want to win and cross the line but it is going to be tough. Hearts have been good this season and it always tough to play at their ground. The atmosphere is good, it is a tight little pitch so we have to be really up for it.”

There is a suggestion that Celtic may prefer to win the title in front of their own supporters, but given the season that has been, simply getting over the line will be sufficient – however it is achieved.

And given the tension that has surrounded Celtic Park in recent weeks, Deila’s men might find it easier to go on the road.

“We have had good results there before in my time and hopefully we can continue doing that,” he said. “I see the players are hungry for the game, they are looking sharp in training and I am looking forward to the game tomorrow.

“Last week was a very difficult time for everybody because of the semi-final and everything that happened with me so there was a lot of energy going the wrong way. Things have settled down, we have been training well and I think we will see a much better performance.

“I feel pressure and energy to get over the line because nothing is done before it is done. There are four games to get over the line and we need three points at least but this team can beat everybody and I want to finish in a good way. That is my dream to do that and finish with the league title at Celtic Park.

“I am quite sure we will see determination and energy in the team. We have taken a lot of points home and away. We haven’t lost a lot of games but the fans are so important when we are away. It is like we are at home and that is an important thing here.”

Charlie Mulgrew will miss the game with a hamstring injury while Stefan Johansen has a problem with his heel and is expected to sit out, while Dedryck Boyata is also still injured.
