I think we all knew that Kieran Tierney would be named the Young Player of the Year this weekend but I have to say that I don’t expect the teenager to suffer from so-called second season syndrome.

He has enough resolve, I suspect, to sustain what he has achieved this season.

There is never any guarantee, young players or other, that you can replicate a strong season the next term again – look at Stefan Johansen this season. He was excellent last year but never got going when the new campaign got underway.

Leigh Griffiths has had an outstanding season and has scored a phenomenal amount of goals, but I still think that he will benefit enormously from bringing in another striker who can play alongside him.

It would take some of the weight off his shoulders, although to be fair to the boy he has played very well in that lone striker position.

And, while this has been a season in which certain goals have not been reached, I do think that the players and the manager were well within their rights to enjoy their title celebrations at Tynecastle.

Of course, it is not done arithmetically just yet and in that respect it would be fitting to do it this weekend against an Aberdeen team who have been their nearest rivals this season.

It is an opportunity to go out and play with some conviction, which they have not always been able to do this season.

They can then enjoy an afternoon in front of their own support. Aberdeen have beaten Celtic twice and I do think you want to go out and put on a strong performance against them.
