CELTIC have just lifted their fifth title in the row – but already sights must be set on TEN.

That was the proclamation from John Collins who insists the Parkhead club have to push on with their progression as they look to rack up a record number of consecutive Scottish crowns.

Ronny Deila and his No.2 signed off their two-year tenure at Paradise in style with an emphatic 7-0 trouncing of Motherwell, signalling the end of an era under the Norwegian.

But Collins has demanded those who pick up from where they left off must continue their crusade for dominance long into the future.

“It’s a great achievement and now the target is six – and ten,” he said.

“We’ve got to keep going forward, keep believing and keep trying to entertain these wonderful supporters.

“They come here to be entertained and they want to see goals. Maybe we haven’t scored enough for them this season or entertained enough but we’ve tried.

“I’m sure if we have more performances like we had [against Motherwell] the place will be packed out with 60,000.”

Collins’s optimistic mood was helped no end by the enthralling show his team put on for the bumper crowd that had gathered within Parkhead for Celtic’s trophy party.

The champions were unstoppable as they shone in the Glasgow sunshine, providing the perfect sign on to a season that hasn’t been quite as straightforward.

Still, Collins is content that he can look back on his last day as Deila’s assistant with great satisfaction.

He said: “It was my last day but I can close my eyes in years to come and think about my last day.

“For a coach to see the boys perform like that and lifting the trophies, happy memories.”

One of the most pleasing aspects of the day for Collins surrounded Kieran Tierney, Celtic’s brightest talent who opened the scoring to claim his first ever Hoops goal.

“I’m so glad we put on a show for the supporters, and it was a real show,” said the No.2

“It was total football from start to finish. Passing, moving, creating chances but most importantly of all finishing them off with seven different scorers.

“We started off with KT and that was so nice. What a performance and what a season he’s had and to finish it off with the opening goal in the last game of the season, I’m so proud of KT and happy for him and his family.

“He is everything about Celtic. He loves this club and he trains every day like a champion.”

It was a sentiment echoed by Parkhead top goalscorer Leigh Griffiths, who added: “I was delighted for KT.

“What a season he’s had and to get a goal and to lift the trophy has probably topped his dreams.”
