MARK WARBURTON is confident Rangers will be in prime shape for their shot at Scottish Cup glory on Saturday.

The Light Blues have been out of action for three weeks since they rounded off their Championship campaign with a 2-2 draw away to St Mirren.

The Buddies stalemate saw Rangers extend their winless run to four matches as they suffered an Old Firm hangover against Hibernian, Alloa and Livingston.

It has been a far from ideal preparation for the showpiece finale to the campaign for Warburton’s and his players as they set their sights on a third piece of silverware this term.

But the Ibrox boss hopes a friendly win over Spurs has sparked his side back into life as they bid to recapture their finest form and shine at Hampden.

Warburton said: “It’s been a challenge and it makes a mockery of the winter break.

“That gives you the same scenario - three weeks off between the first and 21st and you have to do as best you can by giving the players time off, doing warm weather training and organising games.

“It’s a bizarre situation – you have a winter break and look for games.

“We were very good against Spurs. We were on a good surface against a technically gifted team and we were very good for the first hour.

“It was a great workout and the players were happy with it.

“It’s always a risk having a break – you can look at it both ways. You can say it’s hard on rangers having a break or tough on Hibs having four games in a fortnight.

“They can run the risk of fatigue or injury. We have done the best we can and we know we’ll need to replicate this again in January.

“All we can do is learn from it – is it four or five days off, warm weather training and one game leading into a competitive fixture? Whatever your school of thought it is what is.”
