HIBS fans would almost put up with the season they have just suffered if they were to end 114 years of Scottish Cup misery at Hampden on Saturday. Having crashed and burned in first the League Cup final and then the Play-offs, one thing is for sure: the Easter Road side will have no shortage of motivation on the day. Having overcome five Premiership sides already, not to mention beating Rangers on two of the club's previous five meetings this season, the prospect of them putting an end to the longest running in-joke in Scottish football should not be discounted. They can name a full strength team, including Celtic loan players Anthony Stokes and Liam Henderson.

This will be an even game against a Rangers side who have endured a five match winless run since eclipsing their city rivals Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final. I just feel, though, Rangers under Mark Warburton have been so methodical in their approach that it would be foolish to predict any outcome other than a Rangers victory. Martyn Waghorn is fit to resume and I can see him scoring in a narrow victory as the Ibrox club claim their first major piece of silverware since the 2011 title and inflict more misery on Hibs.

Prediction: Rangers 2-1 Hibernian

HIBS are more than capable of winning the William Hill Scottish Cup. They have beaten Rangers twice in the league this season and can do so again at Hampden tomorrow.

They certainly don’t lack motivation. This is an opportunity for them to make history and become the first Easter Road team to lift the trophy in 114 years. It will also help them get over the disappointment of losing in the play-off semi-final to Falkirk and missing out on promotion to the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Alan Stubbs has some talented at his disposal. But defensively they don’t always convince. I think if Rangers perform to their best they will edge it. There is no guarantee of that given they have had three weeks off. They will also miss Dom Ball badly.

But Mark Warburton’s side have produced, and then some, when they have needed to against Dundee and Celtic in the cup this season and I expect them do so once again.

Prediction: Rangers 2-1 Hibernian

A good season could become a great one for Rangers. Scottish Cup success was never really on the agenda last summer for Mark Warburton and his players but now they are just 90 minutes away from a unique Treble.

The five meetings with Hibs this season have given Rangers some of their toughest tests of the campaign, and been some of the most entertaining affairs Scottish football has seen.

This could well be a cracker at Hampden. Whatever happens, it will be a hugely significant afternoon for the winners.

Rangers have proven over the course of the season that they are a better side than Hibs. If they can replicate their performance against Celtic, that should be good enough to give them a third piece of silverware this term.

Prediction: Rangers 3-1 Hibernian

I can’t remember the last time I was so looking forward to a Scottish Cup Final.

Whatever happens, we are going to have a great story and I’ve a feeling this could turn out to be a classic.

Both sides will score and Hibernian have a chance, a big one as well, given that this is the last match many of them will play for the club. Effort won’t be a problem.

In saying that, I can’t see past Rangers – but only just.

Prediction: Rangers 2-1 Hibernian

EVERY fibre of your being tells you that Hibs will not win this afternoon. After all, there has been more chance of Elvis riding Shergar to a Grand National win in recent years than of the Edinburgh club shaking off their Scottish Cup hoodoo.

You know what, though? A disturbance in the force tells me that this could be the day their 114-year wait comes to an end.

After defeating Celtic in the semi-final, Rangers have yet to win a game since and that is an obvious concern for Mark Warburton. For Alan Stubbs, he is leading a team whose season hinges on this one game.

Everything else has crumbled to dust around them, and the Hibs manager – and indeed his players – know just how seismic a defeat this could be. I don’t see them losing sight of that.

IT is impossible to see past Rangers going into this afternoon’s William Hill Scottish Cup final.

In what has been an up-and-down season for Hibs, the mental effects of their capitulation against Falkirk last week in the play-offs will have left them mentally shattered with the realisation that much of the good work they done this season has counted, effectively, for very little.

For Rangers, there are only two question marks: how they handle being the overwhelming favourites and how well they have used their downtime since bringing the league to a close.

The one area of intrigue is that Hibs have beaten the Ibrox side already this season. If Alan Stubbs can tap into that in order to raise the morale of his squad, they could give themselves a chance.

Prediction: Rangers 2-1

THIS is shaping up to be a highly significant Scottish Cup final regardless of the outcome. A Rangers victory – and they will start as favourites – would be a fitting conclusion to a stellar maiden campaign for manager Mark Warburton. If promotion and the Petrofac Training Cup were “non-negotiable” then a major trophy must count as an unexpected bonus. The cherry on the cake will be a return to European competition for the first time in five years.

A Hibs win, of course, will be huge too, given it will deliver this famous old trophy to Easter Road for the first time in 114 years. It will be close and tense but this could finally be their time.

Prediction: Rangers 2-2 Hibernian AET (Hibernian to win on penalties)
