LEE WALLACE will decide after the Scottish Cup final today whether or not he will join up with the Scotland squad for the friendly double header against Italy and France.

The Rangers captain was handed an international recall by boss Gordon Strachan after a superb campaign for the Light Blues and he will be joined in dark blue by team-mate Barrie McKay for the first time.

If Wallace was to feature against the French next month, he would have just two weeks off this summer ahead of Rangers’ return to pre-season training on June 18.

And the 28-year-old will consider his options as he looks ahead to the new Premiership campaign with Mark Warburton’s side.

Wallace said: “Certainly these discussions are going to have to take place with myself in the next couple of days.

“When I touch on the break we had in these weeks it was great for myself just nursing a few things along.

“Not to sound over-dramatic, but the knee issue I have had for a wee while, it was good to give that a wee break and a wee breather.

“I think these discussions will certainly happen in the next few days whatever the outcome of Saturday’s game.

“I think that (whether to come back later for pre-season) again that’s something we’ll speak to the manager about.

“I have had a programme in place to get myself along in these last few weeks, these last few months, whether it be coming off the lower leg stuff in the gym, tapering off in the actual training sessions and just getting myself through games.

“So I think what’s most important to me is that I’m the best I can be come whenever Rangers report back.

“Whether that is taking the 21 day window the manager has referred to, having the full rest, the full shut down, then so be it.

“Or if it’s going away and there is an extended break it will be discussed with the manager.”
