BARRIE MCKAY is confident Rangers won’t dwell on their Scottish Cup heartache as attentions turn to a crack at the Premiership next term.

Mark Warburton’s side were denied a unique Treble last weekend as they lost at Hampden and missed out on a place in the Europa League.

It was an afternoon to forget for the Gers as they threw away their lead in the dying minutes after Kenny Miller and Andy Halliday had cancelled out Anthony Stokes’ opener.

While most of Warburton’s side have headed off on holiday to prepare for the new campaign, McKay still has duties to fulfil as he looks ahead to Scotland’s friendly double header with Italy and France.

And the winger is already looking forward to getting back into action for the Light Blues as he gears up for a shot at the top flight title next term.

McKay said: “It was really disappointing [on Saturday]. The way we have had the season, we maybe didn’t deserve it.

“But we didn’t play the way we could have played. The first half we were very disappointed with ourselves but the second half we probably controlled the game.

“To lose the two late goals, and the way we lost them, was disappointing.

“The main target at the start of the season was to get the club back where it belongs and we have done that.

“We have done it playing good football and exciting football that has brought the fans to the games every week.

“We just need to keep doing that, keep getting the ball down and playing our game and try and not focus on the opposition. We just do our own thing and we will do OK.

“It will be good [next season]. When I first came to Rangers, I made my debut in what was the SPL at the time so to be able to get a good run at it will be good for me.”
