NIKO KRANJCAR insists he is at Rangers to win the Premiership title this term after completing his switch to Ibrox.

The midfielder became the sixth signing of the summer for boss Mark Warburton when he signed a two-year-deal on Thursday morning.

And Kranjcar has set his sights on the silverware this season as Rangers look to mount a title challenge on their top flight return.

He said: “I don’t know Celtic. I haven’t watched them play this year or last year so I can’t really give an answer to that.Glasgow Times: Niko Kranjcar

“But I know that, from talking to the manager and what I have seen since I have been there, that recruitment is going well.

“The young players who are in the team who the manager has talked to me about, obviously I haven’t trained with them so I can’t tell you how good I think they are.

“But I am certain that we are in a great position to push Celtic all the way. Like I said, it is a goal for us.

“I think the experience that has come in is going to help as well. I saw the highlights and heard about the great win in the semi-final of the cup.

“It gives you reason to believe that you can win it and I have no doubt about it. You play football to believe in yourself.Glasgow Times: New Rangers singing Niko Kranjcar speaks to the media yesterday.

“I am not going to sit here and say ‘they are better than us’. They’re not.

“We are going to say ‘we’re the best team in this league’. That’s the way it has to be. The only thing left then is to prove it on the field.”

The capture of Kranjcar is a significant coup for boss Warburton as he continues to bolster his squad ahead of the big kick-off.

And the 31-year-old is delighted to have finally signed on the dotted line and clinched a move to Ibrox.

Kranjcar said: “I always associated Rangers with Dado Prso and obviously Nikica Jelavic is a close friend. But I don’t need them to tell me what Glasgow Rangers is about.

“I grew up in a football family in Croatia. Yes, we didn’t follow Scottish football, but you hear about the Old Firm.

“I was a football fanatic when I was a kid and heard about the biggest derby matches in the world. One was the Old Firm game and the other one was River Plate against Boca Juniors in Argentina. You don’t need people to tell you what Rangers means.

“It’s about competing at the highest levels and I believe Rangers deserves to be competing at the highest levels.

“I also believe I am still young enough to compete at the highest level. It is a lot of hard work and dedication that you have to put in to do that.”
