Six months ago if someone had asked me about whether or not Kris Commons had a future at Celtic, I would have answered ‘absolutely.’

But I am not entirely convinced that he is going to fit into the new regime under Brendan Rodgers. We all know what Kris brings to the table but he was in and out of the team last year and he is now struggling to get back to full fitness after some minor back surgery at the end of the season.

I think he has been a fantastic player for Celtic but I am not entirely sure if he is going to fit into the plans of Rodgers, especially when we all know that there are going to be cuts to a squad that is very bloated.

There are an awful lot of midfielders at the club and although I actually think Celtic could benefit from a player who can create something in the middle of the park, I don’t doubt that there will be a number of players who could be looking to move on.

There are many players of similar quality and it remains to be seen just who stays to be part of it under Rodgers and who decides that their career is better seved moving onto a club where they are going to play regularly.
