KENNY MILLER is confident Rangers will learn the lessons from their Scottish Cup heartache as attentions turn to a Premiership title challenge next term.

Mark Warburton saw his first campaign at the Gers helm come to a disappointing end last month as his side were beaten by Hibernian at Hampden.

Defeat denied the Light Blues a unique Treble after they claimed the Championship crown and Petrofac Training Cup and cost them a Europa League berth.

And Miller knows Warburton’s side must ensure they don’t make the same mistakes again as Rangers look to burst out of the top flight blocks in the coming months.

He said: “The Scottish Cup final was a real disappointment. We didn’t hit anywhere near the levels we should have reached in any aspect of our game, including on the ball which we were given a lot of credit for last season.

“We were off it and didn’t work as hard as we could have in closing them down. The goals we lost were poor.

“A lot was made two months before the cup final about the goals we were conceding and that was another game where we lost three goals.

“It wasn’t good enough because you can’t expect to score three or four goals every week, especially this season.

“We will play the same way, we’ll be attacking and looking to create as many chances and score as many goals as we can, but the reality is you won’t score three or four goals to win games of football.

“We need to find a way to keep the ball out of the back of the net so to lose three goals in a cup final - two from set plays - in the last 10 minutes of a game wasn’t good enough and it’s still hurting.

“But we’ll use it, we’ll learn from it, and the manager will have looked at it and tried to strengthen.

“We’ve made signings and we’re still getting linked with players in positions which makes me believe we’ll have a strong squad which was needed when you look at our bench in the cup final.”
