JASON HOLT may be thousands of miles away, but his mind is already fixed on Fir Park in Lanarkshire.

The Rangers midfielder checked in at Charleston last night with the rest of the Light Blues crew on their pre-season tour.

Holt, though, is already thinking about Rangers' League Cup opener against Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday July 16.

And he hopes the 10-day training camp and friendly clash with Charleston Battery will sharpen the pre-season prep work for Mark Warburton's side.

Holt told Rangers TV: "We'll be looking forward to the game against Motherwell.

“Once we’ve completed our work over in America and played in the game there, we’ll be ready when the time is right.

“It’s a bonus getting a game against Hamilton at Ibrox and I’m sure it will be a full house. We saw that and the atmosphere at the first game of the season last year and I’m sure the fans will continue to turn out in large numbers.

“It’s exciting and it’s one that we are really looking forward to.

“I think it’s important that we start the season strongly and well because if you can do that it stands you in a really good stead and you can try to continue that as you go in the season.”
