MANCHESTER CITY have signed Spain international Nolito from Celta Vigo on a four-year deal after activating his £13.8 million release clause.

The 29-year-old played every game for his country at Euro 2016 before their defeat to Italy in the last 16 on Monday.

He rose to prominence after an excellent season in La Liga in 2015/16, when he scored 12 goals in 29 games for Celta Vigo.

Nolito had worked under Guardiola at Barcelona between 2008 and 2011, but spent most of his time with the club's B team.

He has impressed since joining Celta in 2013, scoring 39 times for the club in 103 appearances, and earned an international debut at the age of 28. 

"I’ll try to bring as much as I possibly can," Nolito said to City's official website.

"I’ll do everything that the manager asks of me, try my absolute best and do everything I can to try to repeat the form I’ve shown throughout my career at various clubs.

"It’s just about trying to play my normal game and let’s hope that I can help Manchester City to win games.

"I think that Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. He knows a lot about the game and he’s going to help me progress as a player and I’m sure he’ll get the best out of me."
