BARRIE MCKAY is confident Rangers can give the Light Blue legions plenty more reasons to be cheerful in their Premiership battle with Celtic this season.

The winger scored a screamer at Hampden as Mark Warburton’s side tasted Old Firm success in the Scottish Cup semi-finals last term.

It was the highlight of a terrific campaign for McKay and a moment to savour for supporters as the Gers clinched a dramatic derby victory on penalties.

And now the 21-year-old is determined to set his sights on more silverware as Warburton’s side look to launch a bid for Premiership glory in the coming months.

McKay said: “We can definitely challenge for the title. We are Rangers Football Club and we are looking to win every competition we go into whether it is the league or the cups.

“We don’t go into any game thinking ‘we’re going to get beaten here’. The fans put the pressure on us to make sure that doesn’t happen and that’s why you come to a club like this.

“It’s good from the fans’ point of view to have the bragging rights, but now that game is out the window because it’s a brand new season and it’s all about bragging rights in the next one.

“I still have people sending me the goal on Twitter. It was a great feeling to score that goal and I do still enjoy watching it.

“The fans have been really supportive of me this year and hopefully it continues.”
