HARRY FORRESTER is pleased with his progress on the road to recovery after scoring on his return to action for Rangers on Wednesday night.

The midfielder was on target during a 2-1 win against Charleston Battery as Mark Warburton’s side rounded off their American training camp with a deserved friendly victory.

Forrester missed the final weeks of the campaign after suffering a fractured leg during the Petrofac Training Cup win against Peterhead at Hampden.

After spending ten days in South Carolina as boss Warburton put his squad through an intense training schedule, Forrester will now set his sights on the first few weeks of the new campaign.

Summer signing Josh Windass opened the scoring for the Gers at the MUSC Health Stadium before the Battery pulled one back in the closing stages through Ataullah Guerra.

It was to prove a useful work out for the Light Blues and Forrester was glad to get some much-needed match minutes under his belt.

He said: “It was a good workout for us, we’ve had a tough few days here. The heat has been a factor in our work but we’ve got through that and to start with a win was a bonus.

“It’s always nice to score, it has been a weird few months for myself missing some big games but it’s a new season now and it is nice to get on the scoresheet.

“The main thing was getting the workout, a lot of lads played 60 minutes, I played half an hour, and it was good to get back out there.

“It’s step by step, obviously. I was a little bit behind the group because of my leg but I feel I’ve been catching up, doing the extra when I need to and hopefully come the first game of the season I will be level in fitness with the boys.”
