MARK WARBURTON will consider his options as he ponders the future of defender Oguchi Onyewu today.
The former American internationalist played a combined 66 minutes during Rangers’ 2-1 win over Charleston Battery on Wednesday evening.
It was to prove a worthwhile exercise for Warburton’s side as they brought their time in South Carolina to an end with a deserved victory thanks to goals from Josh Windass and Harry Forrester.
Onyewu has spent the entire 10 days training camp with the Light Blues squad in a bid to win a deal and Warburton will now decide whether to offer the 34-year-old terms as he searches for a fourth central defensive option this summer.
Warburton said: “It’s early days. We wanted to give him as much time as possible.
“We will have a chat with him in the morning and we will see how we go from there.
“We thought about playing him the whole game with Danny in the first half and Clint in the second half – but that changed when Danny got injured.
“We will talk him and see where we are. He has done well. He is a really experienced campaigner. He has played around the world and he has been a captain.
“It’s a tough one do us. We will chat as a coaching staff and go from there.”
